Matt Boldy scored his 21st and 22nd goals of the season and Filip Gustavsson excelled in goal for the Minnesota Wild on Friday in a 4-2 victory over the Edmonton Oilers.
The Oilers, who lost in overtime to the Boston Bruins in their last game Wednesday, suffered a second straight loss for the first time since their three-game losing streak from December 14 to 19.
Boldy scored the first goal of the game with 23 seconds left in the first period and made it 3-1 with the Wild’s second unanswered goal midway through the third.
The Oilers, however, had the upper hand 43-20 in terms of shots on goal. Gustavsson, however, shined in front of the Wild cage with 41 saves, including 23 on 24 shots in the third period.
Jonas Brodin and Mats Zuccarello (empty net) were the other scorers for the Wild, who are 6-1-1 since returning from the All-Star break.
Leon Draisaitl scored his 28th goal of the season in addition to obtaining an assist and Connor McDavid had two assists for Edmonton.
McDavid may not have scored in eight games, but he has at least one assist in his last six games. He has 16 assists since the start of this streak, which began with an impressive six assists once morest the Detroit Red Wings on February 13.
Zach Hyman scored his 35th goal of the season in the loss.
