2024-02-24 04:12:00

In January, in the François Mitterrand hall, 111 spectators attended the broadcast, live from New York, of the opera Carmen! Great success!

The bastide has another appointment for Saturday March 9, the next opera broadcast live from the Metropolitan Opera in New York: La Force du destin by Giuseppe VERDI – Opera in four acts presented in Italian with French subtitles. It will always be in the François Mitterrand room at 6 p.m., in very comfortable armchairs. The ticket offices open at 5 p.m. and last 4 hours 22 minutes (2 intermissions).

Presentation: Carried by Verdi’s rich and contrasting score, the thwarted romance of Leonora and Alvaro delivers a poignant spectacle. Mariusz Treliński’s new production takes a unique look at the fate of the characters by moving the action into a contemporary world, with the sensational Lise Davidsen for the first time in the role of Leonora.

Synopsis: Leonora is surprised by her father while she was preparing to run away with her lover Don Alvaro. By a twist of fate, the latter accidentally kills the old man. During their flight, they are pursued by Don Carlo di Varga, Leonora’s brother who seeks to avenge his father’s death.

In Jean-Claude Auvray’s production, the opera becomes the place where dreams are shattered once morest the wall of reality, but from which a fragile song of hope of haunting beauty rises.

Entry at €15. Children under 12 years old: €5. Information at the town hall on 05 53 36 00 37
