Because of a transmission problem that can leave the engine running when in neutral, Toyota announced the recall of regarding 280,000 full-size pickup trucks and SUVs.

The vehicle can creep forward on a flat surface as if in Drive, without the drivers knowing. This may increase the risk of an accident and lead to a recall.

The recalled models are limited to the current redesigned generations that share a platform and 10-speed automatic transmission.

Toyota included hybrid models, indicating that the recall covers both the base 3.5-liter twin-turbo V-6 in the LX and Tundra, as well as the twin-turbo hybrid V-6 with a motor-generator installed between the engine and the 10-liter motor. speeds. transmission.

The hybrid is optional on the Tundra and standard on the Sequoia; not offered on the Lexus LX.

The NHTSA has not yet listed the recall, although when it does it will be the ninth recall for the Tundra since it was redesigned for the 2022 model year. The only serious recall for the full-size pickup truck was in June 2022 for a half shaft that might be separated.

It appears that the transmission issue in the latest recall can be fixed with a software update. Owners will be notified by mail regarding the recall resolution in late April 2024 and will be advised to take their vehicle to a Toyota or Lexus service center for a software update.

The Tundra and Sequoia are assembled in San Antonio, Texas, with 75% of the parts coming from the United States or Canada.

The recall affects the following new vehicles:

Toyota Tundra and Tundra Hybrid from 2022 to 2024

2023 to 2024 Toyota Sequoia

Lexus LX 600 del 2022 al 2024
