Multiple Sclerosis Canada – Mauricie region is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. For the occasion, several initiatives will be put forward over the coming months.

The festivities will culminate on Saturday, August 17 at Parc Pie-XII during a big barbecue. From 11 a.m., Mr. Méchoui will be on site and once dinner is served, participants will be able to attend the 15 years of humanitarian conference by humanitarian clown Guillaume Vermette.

The organizers will also take the opportunity to highlight the contribution of people who have made a difference during the history of SP Canada – Mauricie region.

“It’s the Mauricie community that made us able to be there for 50 years,” emphasizes the director of SP Mauricie, Lilianne Demers-Lamarche. We don’t want to wish ourselves another 50 years because we want to find the solution, the cure, and not need us anymore. In the meantime, let’s celebrate the fifty years we’ve just spent sticking together and helping each other, 50 years of helping people affected by multiple sclerosis. »

A promotional video produced by No Studio de Nicolet will also highlight the evolution of the organization since its beginnings, as well as multiple sclerosis and the Mauritian community.

“In 1994, member services were limited to information kiosks in hospital entrances and shopping centers,” recalls Claudette Forest, a volunteer at SP Mauricie for 31 years. Today, thanks to our wonderful team, we have all kinds of services: physical activity and aqua-fitness, massage therapy, care from a podiatrist, coffee meetings and conferences. »

Souvenir items will be on sale so that everyone can remember these 50 years of dedication, volunteerism, evolution and community. People will be able to purchase 50th anniversary teddy bears as well as 50th anniversary cutting boards from the organization by calling 819 372-5938.
