The Puren population is celebrating. During the next few months, the sector will have a renovated venue for amateur football, benefiting all the series of the Zaragoza and Unión Católica Clubs and also the neighbors who will see how the space has a face in keeping with the new times.
This is how players from both clubs, neighbors and authorities brought to life the ceremony to install the first stone of the field that is located on Central Street and 3 Oriente.
The court is located on land owned by Serviu with usufruct in favor of the Municipality of Chillán and will receive an investment of more than $600 million, through the execution of a tender that will be carried out by 3 companies. The works include a synthetic grass mat, drinking water, rainwater drainage, new perimeter closure, arches, flags, substitute benches and maintenance of the venue.
The mayor of Chillán, Camilo Benavente, highlighted the joint work of government entities, the clubs and also the role of the municipality. “We are happy with the installation of the first stone, a project that has 150 days of execution, we hope to inaugurate it in September, it is a field that is within the city and that will give dignity to two clubs. We are advancing in sports infrastructure and in which we all collaborate, the councilors and the director of Serviu, which allows us to develop this sector of the Purén population that is emblematic for the city.”
On March 23, 1963, the Real Zaragoza Sports Club was established, currently chaired by Carlos Cabrera, who valued the upcoming modernization of the field, the scene of soccer joys and sorrows. “This marks a before and following in the history of our sports, since it will provide better conditions for sports activities, it will serve schools, and the community in general.”
Jaime González, helmsman of Unión Católica, with heartfelt words recalled that “this is something that we have been following for a long time, the children in the winter found themselves in mud, with a synthetic pitch we will no longer have to suspend dates. The players from our sector, which is the town of 20 de Agosto, near Purén, are going to wear the colors of our sports team with greater pride, together we all have to take care of the field. This cost a lot, but thanks to the mayor’s efforts we were able to move this forward.”
The president of the Neighborhood Council No. 10 of the Purén Town, Clara San Juan, highlighted the contribution that the work means for amateur soccer, but also for the community. “For everyone it is a great advance, we have wanted a better image of the field for years.”
