The Socialist Party of Chile Regional Ñuble declared “its support and unrestricted support” for Óscar Crisóstomo Llanos as its standard bearer for re-election to the position of regional governor in the elections on October 27.
The community formalized its registration as a candidate, and according to the regional board, “this support is based on the consensus of the bases and the regional board, on the successful management carried out by Governor Crisóstomo, which has allowed during these two and a half years of “work, to begin the path to the desired growth and development of the territory in areas so diverse and felt by the people of Ñublensinos, demonstrating leadership in the articulation of the main axes that drive the region’s progress towards its development.”
According to the local leaders of the Socialist Party, Crisóstomo’s management has stood out for having “a seal of equity and decentralization.”
Proof of the above, they said, “is the work carried out to bring health closer to people with programs to reduce waiting lists; the strengthening of infrastructure and equipment in health establishments, the Medicine degree that will soon have its first enrolled students and the creation of the long-awaited Telethon Center. Furthermore, we highlight their commitment to key issues for the development of the territory, such as access to decent housing; new spaces for sports and recreation; and the strengthening of security with emblematic works and community projects, just to mention some relevant areas that contribute to improving the quality of life of the inhabitants of the region.”
According to what was expressed by the local PS, “thanks to this leadership demonstrated in its management, the Regional Government of Ñuble has become the main political articulator of the territory, achieving an environment of transversal collaboration that has allowed unite institutions and various local actors, to work together for the common good of the inhabitants of Ñuble. We are fully convinced that to consolidate the future of Ñuble, it is necessary to strengthen its management in a new period as regional leader, and for this reason, the Socialist Party of Chile, Ñuble Region, supports and proclaims Óscar Crisóstomo Llanos as its standard bearer for the period 2024-2028, at the same time calling on the different political forces to join a unitary candidacy for Regional Governor, to continue working together for a better future.”
In this regard, Governor Crisóstomo stated that “some time ago I had already expressed my desire to be able to continue directing our region of Ñuble based on the growth process that we have had and various projects that have allowed the improvement of the quality of life and the well-being of our neighbors. Today, undoubtedly the support that my party openly gives me gives us more strength to continue on this same path, and what we also need is to expand our support base, to achieve a great victory in October of this year.
All in the first round
Everything indicates that the first round of regional governor in Ñuble will have numerous candidates, as happened in 2021, when seven candidates participated (all men).
The spirit demonstrated so far in the ruling party is to unite criteria and compete in a single center-left list, which includes the Broad Front, the Communist Party, Democratic Socialism, different leftist forces, and even the DC. However, there is a possibility that primaries will be held on June 9.
On the right, meanwhile, so far the UDI has an advantage because its candidate, Cristóbal Jardúa, is already working. It is not known if the Republican Party will present any option, and from the independent world, counselor Cristian Quilodrán confirmed that he will collect signatures to present his candidacy.
