This week the Build Ñuble 4.0 Technology Diffusion Program (PDT) was presented. The initiative, financed by Corfo, is led by the Technological Center for Innovation in Construction (CTEC), with the support of the University of Bío-Bío (UBB) and the Chilean Chamber of Construction (CChC) Ñuble.
The program consists of a technology transfer, the objective of which is to train SMEs in the region in new skills associated with the circular economy, industrialized construction and Building Information Modeling (BIM). This, with the aim of companies remaining competitive and making a technological leap, facing the current environmental, productivity and economic reactivation challenges.
“At Corfo we are working through different lines of financing to strengthen the productive fabric around the industrialized construction of housing, in order to contribute to generating the necessary conditions that allow us to respond in a more agile and sustainable way to housing demands. With this program, we will address the formation of human capital and We will work with SMEs to train them in modern construction techniques, which aim, among other objectives, to reduce costs, make more efficient use of resources and generate the lowest possible environmental impact. We invite the SMEs of Ñuble to participate,” said the regional director of Corfo, Macarena Dávila.
According to a survey carried out by CTEC and the CChC, in Ñuble there is a business gap in terms of innovation, circular economy and digitalization, in part due to the shortage of qualified labor. The main problems declared by the 21 companies consulted are low labor productivity, delays and cost overruns, due to low technological adoption and lack of knowledge regarding new technologies. The majority are SMEs that cannot afford courses individually and are unaware of the methods of technological adoption and change management.

Ricardo Salman, president of the CChC Ñuble, pointed out that “this program is unprecedented in Chile. Ñuble is the first region in the country to implement an initiative of this type, which seeks to accelerate changes in the economy to respond to the challenges of these times, marked by strong technological development that our sector must assume. The adoption of new technologies can increase labor productivity by 15% and reduce costs by 6%.”
While Carolina Briones, executive director of CTEC, pointed out that, “in collaboration with industry leaders in the region, we are promoting concrete actions to improve the productivity of companies, promoting specialized training around topics that have emerged as crucial. , creating an ecosystem conducive to collaboration between professionals.”
Meanwhile, Ariel Bobadilla, director of the Construction Technology Research Center, Citec UBB, stated that “the Center will support the formation of human capital, with the aim of reducing knowledge gaps necessary to overcome to promote the construction industry. construction 4.0 in the region.
