The Public Ministry and the National Civil Police reported on February 20 regarding the arrest of a man for extradition purposes for crimes related to drug trafficking in Ayutla, San Marcos.
According to the PNC, the detainee was handed over by Mexican authorities to the returnee reception center, located in Olguita de León colony.
According to the report that the institutions shared through their social networks, the detainee was identified as Jason Antonio Yang Lopez, 42 years old and originally from Guatemala.
The PNC indicates that the detainee is required to stand trial in US District Court., for the district of Florida.
“This man is charged with the crime of conspiracy to import 400 grams or more of a mixed substance that contained a detectable amount of fentanyl“adds the PNC.
Authorities also detailed an investigation into a transnational criminal organization based in Mexico City and Sinaloaan organization in which the detainee would have collaborated.
This organization, in the words of the MP and the PNC, was in charge of importing large quantities of chemicals used in the preparation of the fentanyl from China to other countriesto later be smuggled into the US.
So far this year, the National Civil Police reports that, with this arrest, there are four people captured for extradition purposes for crimes related to drug trafficking.

“The investigation identified the requested person as shipping coordinator based in Guatemala of shipments of N-phenylpiperidin-4-amine-dihydrochloride (4-AP), from China to Mexico, where it would be processed into fentanyl for sale to buyers in the US and elsewhere,” says the PNC.

The PNC added that, in 2024, Four arrests have been made for extradition purposes for crimes related to drug trafficking.
