After a turbulent season, the EC VSV has certainly qualified for the playoffs in the win2day ICE Hockey League.
Villach narrowly defeated HC Innsbruck 1-0 in the last home game of the regular season. Defender MacPherson scores the decisive goal. The Innsbruck Haie now have to fight their way through the pre-playoff into the postseason.
Wild game at playoff level
The guests cope better with the pressure in the first third and determine what happens. However, a goal is not achieved and Peeters (10th) misses the best opportunity.
After the first third break, VSV came out of the locker room much improved and as a result had numerous chances. In the 28th minute it was MacPherson who scored from a central position to make it 1-0.
The game is characterized by a lot of toughness and fight, both teams don’t give anything away. VSV starts the final third like an attack, but Rauchwald and Co. miss out on good opportunities.
In the last few minutes it was once once more VSV goalkeeper Lamoureux who drove Innsbruck to despair. The veteran thwarted several top chances and brought the Villach town hall into a cheering mood with the final siren.
