On the followingnoon of February 20, the 17th Spring Festival 2024 was opened at the Central Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion.
The program is jointly organized by the Central Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion and the Hanoi Youth Blood Donation Association, expected to receive 8,000 units of blood, overcoming the blood shortage during and following the Lunar New Year.
Although it opened on February 20, right from the 9th day of Tet (February 18), the Spring Festival was launched. Thousands of people have “opened spring” by volunteering to donate blood. Before opening time, the Organizing Committee received over 2,500 units of donated blood.
Associate Professor, PhD. Nguyen Ha Thanh, Director of the Central Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion, said: “Unlike the thousands of early spring festivals taking place across the country, this is the only festival where those who attend do not pray for anything. nothing for myself, but came to give precious drops of blood – a part of life to the sick.
That has made the Spring Festival special, unique, and unique and created lasting vitality, leaving many impressions and memories with the attendees.”
With the message “Donate blood in early spring – Multiply happiness”, the Spring Festival has become a “spring travel” destination at the beginning of the year for thousands of people, ready to “give lucky money” with drops of blood to save lives to bring good luck. health to the sick.
Ms. Dao Thi Thanh Thuy (Nam Tu Liem, Hanoi) also went “to the festival” in early spring by going to the Red Spring Festival to donate blood. She confided: “If I can do anything to save people, I will do it.”
And Mr. Nguyen Xuan Ngoc (Hoai Duc, Hanoi) fell in love with blood donation following donating blood for a friend. From then on, he understood the necessity of blood units for patients. Knowing regarding the Pink Spring Festival, he immediately arranged time to “spring travel” with a meaningful job.
Previously, Mr. Le Trung Truyen’s family (Xuan Quan commune, Van Giang district, Hung Yen) also had a meaningful “spring trip” by going to the Central Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion to donate blood.
Not only Mr. Truyen but his two daughters, son-in-law, sister, nephew… all participated in donating blood. Many of Mr. Truyen’s children have donated blood 30-40 times.
Although he does not donate blood because he is over 60 years old, Mr. Truyen always accompanies his family’s “collective” blood donations. He and his children have also mobilized more than 100 other people to join the blood and platelet campaign.
“In early spring, people often go to the temple to get good luck. And I went to donate blood at the Spring Festival to bring luck to everyone,” shared Ms. Le Thi Bich Diep, daughter of Mr. Le Trung Truyen.
Along with Mr. Truyen’s family, there were nearly 50 commune people (Xuan Quan commune, Van Giang district, Hung Yen) who also came to the Spring Festival to donate blood.
Accompanying and contributing significantly to the success of the Red Spring Festival, Mr. Trinh Xuan Thuy, Chairman of the Hanoi Youth Blood Donation Campaign shared: “Even in the days leading up to Tet, when many people have When returning home to celebrate Tet, thousands of Association volunteers still volunteer to propagate and campaign for blood donation at public locations.
At the same time, the association also created a strong communication campaign on social networks with the participation of 3,000 volunteers. Also this followingnoon, the Central Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion held the inauguration ceremony of a fixed blood donation point at the National Blood Center following upgrading and repairing with funding from CP Vietnam Livestock Joint Stock Company. .
This is the third location following the fixed blood donation point at the Agricultural General Hospital and the Red Cross Society of Ba Dinh district.
