The price of a kilo of chicken has increased since last Tuesday. According to reports, the meat of this bird fluctuates between S/ 10 and S/ 12. This is generating great concern in Peruvian families, since this product is present on home tables.
Channel N did a brief review of some markets in Metropolitan Lima and showed that the cost of chicken rose between S/ 3 and S/ 4, compared to last week.
According to the sellers, fewer chickens are being bought, since, given the rise in price, housewives prefer to carry less quantities. Even the poultry farmers commented that before they asked for approximately 60 to 70 birds to sell, but now they only request 40.

Egg price rose
The Association of Egg Producers of Peru (Aprohperu) explained the rise in the price of eggs is due to several factors. Alex Jerí pointed out that the increase in its cost is due to three main reasons.
“There are several factors here, it is the heat, the climate we are experiencing, and we have been seeing the results of the wrong decisions of the previous government and it is just taking its toll on us. (…) The issue of the Russia war once morest Ukraine, that inputs increased: corn and wheat. We also have the problem of avian flu,” Jerí declared for our media.
Likewise, the increase in prices of basic inputs such as corn and wheat due to the Russia – Ukraine War has also contributed to this situation.
