Marcos Galperín vs. Juan Grabois: Million-Dollar Mismanagement Unveiled

Marcos Galperín once once more crossed Juan Grabois, once more for the millionaire mismanagement in the Socio-Urban Integration Fund (FISU), revealed by Clarín in which officials reporting to him had recorded expenditures of $130 million only in travel expenses and commissions during last year. “You were cheaper when you planted parsley”the founder of Mercado Libre told him.

“In the end Grabuá cost us cheaper and even seemed more romantic (Che Guevara 2.0 wave) when he planted parsley in usurped fields. The socialist maxim never fails, generosity is always “contribute with yours!”, the businessman launched in his account of X. He accompanied his chicana with the hashtag “#ChauGrabuá 😘”.

The government of Javier Milei set its sights on the Socio-Urban Integration Fund (FISU), a million-dollar fund that was in the hands of Fernanda Miño, a social leader of the MTE who emerged from the town of La Cava, in San Isidro, who responds politically to Grabois.

Miño – who made a statement in her defense like Grabois – was in charge of signing the billions of pesos that went to the BICE bank to in turn transfer to the cooperatives. The Government points out that the fund’s employee base grew exponentially following Grabois joined: it went from 63 workers to more than 600.

The figure of 130 million, which responds to the payment of travel expenses and commissions during 2023, is a tiny number if one takes into account the amount of money that those close to the social leader managed in the last administration of Alberto Fernández, either directly through the Secretariat of Socio-Urban Integration or through discretionary transfers to cooperatives that its organization, the CTEP, controls.

According to a Clarín survey, in total, measured in the average official dollar in the periods of 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023, Grabois directly or indirectly managed US$ 244 million. The data accessed by this medium comes from the Open Budget site, dependent on the Ministry of Economy, and from sources in the social area, which report how the transfers were made through items outside the budget.

Juan Grabois, leader of the Union of Workers of the Popular Economy.

These are the numbers that Galperín, leader of the largest unicorn in the country, takes to attack Grabois, with whom he had already had a previous encounter days ago, when the links between the Trust Fund and leader K began to spread on networks, a scenario chosen by the owner of Mercado Libre to establish a position around different current political issues, such as the reforms of the Milei government that he supports.

“Look at Grabuá [sic]…You can easily confess a bit [sic, por pecadillo] of these? It seems to be true when they say that no one is K for free…”, he crossed it on February 17. Grabois’ response did not take long to arrive: “Sad selfish idiot,” he insulted him.

Now, in this new round, Grabois did not remain silent either. Quite the opposite. He came out to reply with an extensive text in which he accused Galperín of evading taxes, due to his move to Uruguay during Kirchnerism. “Dear Marcos: repeating the same lie a thousand times does not make it true. Dirtying others is not going to clean you up,” he accused him.

“You took billions of dollars of ‘yours’ to Uruguay to avoid paying taxes to imaginary socialism, but even evaded, you still need to demonstrate that all of us who do not pay homage to Capital have jobs… do you realize how ridiculous “What is it like to be the richest kid in the country and celebrate a cheap defamatory article?” he responded.

Grabois, who also often mentions Galperín on social networks and has called him a “planer” and “evader”, invited him to return to Argentina. “If you allow me some advice: you will feel much better returning to the country, paying the corresponding taxes and accepting that you are not better than anyone, you just have more money,” he said.

A no small fact regarding Galperín’s criticism of Grabois and the failed parsley plantations. The allusion refers to the organic garden that was set up by the Artigas Project militants who had taken over the property and responded to the social leader Juan Grabois in a field owned by the family of former Macrista minister Luis Etchevehere, in Entre Rios. The truncated expedition ended in eviction and scandal.
