The curtain fell solemnly on the two-day 16th Panhellenic Satire Festival of Amateur Troupes “Momos o Patreus” on the evening of Saturday, February 17, at the packed Pantheon.
After the presentation of the modular show “16th Boy” with the 10 satirical ten minutes of the amateur groups from Greece and Brussels, which received the lively applause of the audience, the prizes were awarded as follows:
The Audience Awards
1st Audience Award in the Theatrical Group of the Brotherhood of Cretans of Rhodes “O Psiloritis” (founded in 1989) which presented the action “Ta skagia” from the play “My Viola” by Yiannis Niotakis
2nd Audience Award in the Theater Group “TheatrILION” of Ilio Attica (2007) which presented the action “The Birth of the Jester” from the play “Mistero Buffo” by Dario Fo
3rd Audience Award to the Theater Group of Leros which presented an excerpt from the play “Medea” by Bost
And they followed honorary awards in: Theatrical group of the Larissa Bar Association, Greek Theater Workshop of Brussels, Theatrical Group of the Municipality of Phylis, Theatrical Group of Filiaton and Theatrical Group of Parga.
The native groups Theatrical Group of the Cultural Center of OTE Achaia Employees and Theatrical Group of the Itean Cultural Association “Crazy and Strays”” did not participate in the voting for the audience awards due to locality.

The interludes of E.S.P. Refenes (theatrical “bridges” between the 10 minutes) had the character of satirical advertisements.
The awards were made by the director of KEDIP-Carnival of Patras Sofia Chrysopoulou, the Deputy Governor Andreas Filias, the municipal councilor Athena Kallimani and the members of the Judging Committee Syngletiki Vlahaki (theatreologist, representative of DI.PE.THE. Patras) and Dionysis Voultsos (director, actor) ).
The presenters of the evening were the couple “Explorer” / Lefteris Specieris and “Melissoula” / Chrysla Mella.
Beginning with an honorable tribute to satire
However, on the first night of the festival (Friday 16/2), in the presence of the Mayor of Patreon, Kostas Peletidis, as part of the Tribute to satire and the people who serve it, 3 theatrical acts were performed:
a. The Zakynthian “Speech” by Nikos Gousetis “Ilion” – Trojan War, written in 2023 by the Polyphonic Adult Theater Workshop of Patras (2005)
b. The satirical number “The pensioner” by Lakis Lazopoulos. from the revision “It was a small ship” of 1995, by the Theater Group “G. Souris” of Ermoupolis Syros (1979)
c. The satirical one-act play “A Vlacha in Athens”, by an unknown author, from the Theater Group of the Municipality of Ilida “ErasiTECHNES” (2014).
The Mayor of Patreon praised the efforts of the amateurs, welcomed the visiting teams and congratulated the E.S.P. “Refene” for the organization. He announced the opening of the festival and enthusiastically greeted the amateur actors following the performance.
The Mayor of Patreon, the Vice-Mayor of Culture and Planning Apostolos Aggelis and the Vice-President of KEDIP-Patra Carnival Pavlos Skouras presented the awards and souvenirs to the theater groups.
The festival was organized by the KEDIP-Carnival of Patras and the Patras Amateur Scheme “Refene”, with the support of the Region of Western Greece, the help of the Patras Regional Municipality and the patronage of the Society of Greek Playwrights, Translators and Music Composers of the theater.
