The Ministry of Economy, Development and Tourism together with the Technical Cooperation Service announced the opening of applications to the program Digitize your Warehousewhich supports the strengthening of small neighborhood businesses through the incorporation of digital tools.
This call has a budget of $1,510 million, which is expected to benefit 409 warehousemen and women nationwide. Those who are beneficiaries will receive a subsidy of $2,750,000, an amount 17% greater than that granted last year, which they can allocate to investments such as the purchase of machines, equipment and digital tools that will strengthen the internal management and sales processes of the warehouse, as well as technical assistance, training and marketing to promote the business in the digital age.
The launch was led by the Minister of Economy, Development and Tourism, Nicolás Grau and the general manager of Sercotec, Cecilia Schröder, who visited the Prizëm warehouse, beneficiary of the 2023 call, where they were able to learn regarding the investments made to transition from the use of notebook to digital tools.
“Today we begin applications for the 2024 version of Digitalize Your Warehouse, an initiative with which we hope to support more than 400 warehouses so that they can generate significant changes that will directly impact the management of their business, but also on customer service. of their clients and in the link that is generated with the neighborhood and its surroundings, as in the case of Prizëm, a place where we are today, who were able to acquire a typifying scale to sell their products in bulk, which they previously made manually in a notebook, they were also able to acquire inventory software for better control of the supply of their products,” said Minister Nicolás Grau.
For her part, the general manager of Sercotec, Cecilia Schröder, emphasized that “digitized warehouses can improve business management and customer service. They can, for example, know and manage their inventory, have weights and other digital items, or offer electronic payment methods. The move from pencil and paper to digital control of warehouse inventory has been very important for thousands of warehousemen and women throughout the country. With this, they can quickly and clearly identify the key aspects of the operation of their business. All this allows them to lower costs and increase their sales.”
A measurement of the impact of the program detected that 54% of the warehouses supported by Sercotec in 2021 increased their sales the following year, reaching this increase to $10,029 million. Similarly, 66% of the beneficiary warehouses in 2022 increased their contribution margin in 2023.
From 2016 to date, more than 4,800 stores have accessed this benefit. Among those supported last year, 65% were led by women and 85% had an “initial” or “novice” level of digitalization, according to the Chequeo Digital measurement.
How to apply
Warehouses that have started first-class activities before the Internal Revenue Service, with an age of more than 12 months and net sales less than or equal to 5,000 UF per year may apply for this call. In addition, they must enroll in virtual training and, if selected, provide a contribution equivalent to 10% or 15% of the amount of the Sercotec subsidy, depending on the region of application.
The types of stores considered for the benefit include, among others, rotisseries, minimarkets, pastry shops, bakeries, bakeries, butcher shops, fishmongers, ice cream shops, bulk sales emporiums, botillerias, confectioneries, roasters, fruit shops, greengrocers, bazaars and bookstores. neighborhood.
