DENVER (AP) — A student arrested in the shooting deaths of two people found in a Colorado college dorm last week was a roommate of one of the victims, police said Tuesday.

Nicholas Jordan, 25, is suspected of killing Samuel Knopp, 24, and Celie Rain Montgomery, 26, at the University of Colorado Springs on Friday.

Jordan lived with Knopp at the university, regarding 69 miles (111 kilometers) south of Denver, Colorado Springs police spokeswoman Caitlin Ford said. The spokeswoman was unaware of Montgomery’s relationship with the two men and had no information regarding the cause of the shooting.

Jordan was a student at the university at the time, said university spokeswoman Jenna Press. Knopp was also a student, but Montgomery was not enrolled, police said.

Jordan, originally from Detroit, was arrested Monday on suspicion of two counts of first-degree murder and is represented by a court-appointed attorney, according to court documents. A hearing was scheduled for Tuesday followingnoon.

According to police, the bodies of Knopp and Montgomery were found following shots were fired around 6 a.m. Friday at Crestone House, a college apartment complex.

On Friday, police said the deaths appeared to be an “isolated incident” between people who knew each other and not a random attack, and they ruled out “threats to the community.”

Dozens of people gathered Monday for a memorial walk at the school, which serves more than 11,000 students and nearly 2,000 faculty and staff.
