The organization of the 24 Hours of Le Mans has unveiled the line-up for the next edition which will take place on June 15 and 16.

On June 15 at 4 p.m., the start of the fourth round of the FIA World Endurance Championship will take place on the Bugatti circuit in Le Mans. The 24 hours of Le Mans are once once more full of entrants. 62 cars will set off in front of full stands. 23 Hypercars, 16 LMP2s and 23 LMGT3s make up the field. Although the list of 186 drivers at the start is not yet complete, there are already 12 former winners in the general classification as well as three female drivers, including Frenchwoman Doriane Pin.

“Endurance races are doing very well today and this entry list proves that a good regulatory approach arouses keen interest and promotes intense competition,” believes Mohammed Ben Sulayem, president of the FIA.

Peugeot, Porsche, Alpine, Lamborghini…

9 is the number of brands present in the Hypercar category which will compete for victory. Since the start of this era in 2021, never before have so many manufacturers committed. Cadillac, BMW, Isotta Fraschini, Toyota, Peugeot, Porsche, Alpine, Lamborghini and Ferrari will all be on the track together. Last year, Ferrari won for the tenth time on the Le Mans track. Among those involved, we find the name of Romain Grosjeanthe former Formula 1 driver.

A fierce fight in LMP2

In LMP2, 16 crews will be on the starting grid, including six mixing professional and amateur drivers. This category, particularly tough and balanced, promises great suspense for victory. The experience acquired in the European Le Mans Series or the Asian Le Mans Series might prove decisive, since not all the teams will compete in the WEC this year.

The Iron Dames will play big in LMGT3

Big news for 2024, the LMGT3 replaces the LMGTE. For the occasion, the GT3s will offer the public an XXL grid, made up of 23 cars from nine prestigious brands: Aston Martin, BMW, Corvette, Ferrari, Ford, Lamborghini, Lexus, McLaren and Porsche. The Iron Dames, a trio made up of female drivers, are among the favorites for victory in Sarthe, following a historic 2023 season marked by their triumph at the 8 Hours of Bahrain. In this category, the legend Valentino Rossi, former multiple world champion motorcycle driver, will be entered in a BMW M4 GT3 from the WRT team.
