PARIS, March 21, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — Eighteen Moldovan wineries took part in the Wine Paris & Vinexpo Paris 2024 took part, a historic first for the country, with visitor and exhibitor numbers increasing to 41,253 and 4,070 respectively in 2024.
The three-day event culminated in a Wine of Moldova Master class at which HE Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to France Corina Călugăru, Stefan Iamandi, Director of the National Wine Office, and journalist Robert Joseph on the importance of Moldovan “10 revolutionary years of building a national wine brand” discussed.
“What we are experiencing today is an opportunity. In the next decade we may not talk regarding a revolution, but regarding a transformation or reinvention, especially in the Moldovan wine industry,” said Ambassador Corina Călugăru.
She continued: “Moldova is a country with a rich heritage and hardworking people. Our successes in the wine industry are a testament to the political and international support, but above all to the commitment of our winemakers and the resilience of our people. I believe this is the cornerstone of our progress.”
Ștefan Iamandi noted the country’s continued success in export markets as premium Moldovan wines become increasingly popular abroad. “After ’10 revolutionary years of building a national wine brand,’ Moldova’s wine exports to Western countries have tripled in value,” he said.
Robert Joseph also noted that “people have fallen in love with Moldovan wine and are telling others regarding it, but it is not easy to make themselves heard. So the Republic of Moldova is only at the beginning of the journey.”
Participating wineries have described Wine Paris 2024 as a “great opportunity to stand alongside the largest producers”.
