Food exports from the United States to Cuba increased by 4.2% during the year 2023 according to the Department of Agriculture (USDA) of said country.
According to official figures published by USDA, agri-food exports accumulated a total of $301,727,842 dollars. Just last December that line totaled $45,229,570 dollars.
This data represented an increase of 14.8% if we compare it with December 2022 ($39,393,828 dollars) and December 2021 ($28,091,304 dollars).
Such increase consolidated Cuba in position 53 of the 227 agri-food export markets of the United States during the year 2023, revealed Cubatrade.
If we break down the products, it will be noted that the 10 main exports to the Island represent 88.1% of the total registered by USDA in that period.
Main exports
The main exports of 2023 were Chicken Leg Quarters (Frozen) and Chicken Meat (Frozen), which constitute 43.6% and 29.9% in that order. The increase in coffee imports is obvious. That line reached the historic figure of $5.4 million dollars.
The aforementioned increase in exports from the United States to Cuba has to do with the relationship of the White House in the emergence of MSMEs on the Island. Last year these private businesses imported $24,163,312 dollars; of which $8 million was in automobiles.
Likewise, humanitarian donations from the United States to Cuba increased to $36,563,551 in 2023; compared to $30,083,306.00 in 2022.
