This Wednesday, February 14, workers at the General Cemetery, in zone 3 of Guatemala City, alerted the authorities regarding the discovery of a body wrapped in sheets in an area of this cemetery.

Agents of the National Civil Police (PNC) went to the place to verify the complaint and verified at a glance that inside sacks and a sheet there was the lifeless body of a person.

Given this, the PNC cordoned off the area and waited for MP experts to arrive to process the scene and carry out the removal of the body, which was preliminarily determined to correspond to a man, without specifying age or whether it had signs of violence.

“On February 14, 2024, the body of an unidentified male person was located, wrapped in sheets and sacks, inside the General Cemetery, behind the mausoleum D-4 in box 25, in zone 3,” reported María José Mansilla, spokesperson for the investigative entity.

The body, according to Mansilla, was located by a cemetery security guard. “There are no nearby surveillance cameras in the area,” she added.

According to the spokesperson, the body was transferred to the morgue of the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (Inacif) and they are waiting for general information on the deceased to be provided.
