The Region of Western Greece is slowly moving up in energy category, as the contracts for the development of urban natural gas networks in Patras, Pyrgos and Agrinio are now in full progress.
For several days now, in the Refugee area of Patras, the contractor has started the installation of the medium pressure pipelines. The district was chosen due to the simultaneous implementation of the regeneration project implemented there by the Municipality of Patreon.
At the same time, a corresponding contract has been started in the area of the Patras Regional Institute of Environmental Protectionso that the works meet at some point in the intermediate distance from Patras.
THE deputy governor of Achaia Fokion Zaimis had a few days ago meetings regarding natural gas in Athens, with all the operators, providers and builders of the project. As he said yesterday to Peloponnisos FM 104,1, work is now progressing normally and there is cooperation with the three municipalities from where the pipeline network will pass (Patreon, Erymanthos, Western Achaia), in order to facilitate work and provide flexibility.
In the wake of the announcements made yesterday by Italgasmain shareholder of the DEPA company that develops the natural gas networks in Patras, the goal is until next December the first connections and natural gas supplies have been madeat least to large consumers such as hospitals, organizations or large enterprises and in 2025 the network is complete.
Mr. Zaimis appeared optimistic and for the construction of the natural gas transmission pipeline from Megalopolis of Tripoli to the Vipe of Patras. In the contacts he had made, he stated that there is political will and will from the local authorities for a project that must be accelerated.
At the same time, he pointed out that the new pipeline will also have the possibility of transporting hydrogen, putting Western Greece directly at the cutting edge of technological developments, a very important fact for the competitiveness of the region.
