The tribute to the victims of Villa de Pitanxo and football unite the 18F candidates

Santiago de Compostela, Feb 17 (EFE).- The tribute to the victims of the tragic shipwreck of the Villa de Pitanxo fishing boat, in which 21 sailors died two years ago, will be the common event of the main candidates for the Galician elections this 18 February on the day of reflection.

The event will thus bring together the PP candidates, Alfonso Rueda; BNG, Ana Pontón; and PSdeG, José Ramón Gómez Besteiro, in Marín, the town that hosts the tribute to the victims coinciding with the second anniversary of the tragedy.

The event, organized by the relatives of the victims, will take place next to the commemorative plaque placed on Paseo Alcalde Blanco and which reads “Always with us, although without you.”

Curiously, it will not be the only time that the three candidates coincide, since all three plan to attend the Balaídos field to follow the match between Celta de Vigo and FC Barcelona.

However, the candidates for the presidency of the Galician Government plan to find time to catch up with family, friends and also for sports and good food, following intense weeks in which these hobbies have been relegated due to the campaign agenda.

The president of the Xunta and candidate to remain in San Caetano, Alfonso Rueda, will spend the morning near the official residence of the regional presidents, Monte Pío, walking through Monte Pedroso with his family.

Pontón will repeat his plan from previous elections and will meet with family and friends to have vermouth in a well-known restaurant in the old area of Compostela.

Besteiro has confessed that he wants to rest so, although he is fond of cooking, this Saturday he will ask others to cook for him.

Sumar’s candidate, Marta Lois, will be the most animated and will go to Portosín beach to paraglide.

The Podemos candidate, Isabel Faraldo, has met with her friends for a very ‘carnivalesque’ plan, eating a stew, typical of these holidays.

And the Vox candidate, Álvaro Díaz-Mella, will have a quiet Saturday and will limit his day to spending the day with his family, reading for a while and walking around the city of Vigo.
