SV Guntamatic Ried started the spring of the 2nd football league with a setback: the Innviertler lost once morest FAC 0:2 (0:0) – and even gave up their place as the first pursuer of leaders GAK. “The Viennese were doing well, we lacked ideas. We have to be smarter,” said returnee Ante Bajic. Combative postscript: “We won’t let our heads down.”

The only model students included those Ried fans who had free entry to the Innviertel Arena with their autumn certificate. However, coach Maximilian Senft’s team disappointed in every respect on the pitch.
Even two winter additions mightn’t change that: In addition to Bajic, Lumor Agbenyenu also appeared in the starting line-up on the left side. In general, the home team initially found it difficult to get into the game: Bajic missed the first top chance (21st), the attacker shot a volley over the goal from six meters.
In the 26th minute, Ried managed to break the Viennese for the first time: Wilfried Eza served Mark Grosse, whose shot narrowly missed the left post. Shortly followingwards, Fabian Wohlmuth failed from the penalty area.
Havenaar is lost
The second half didn’t start as expected for the Vikings either: Defense chief Nikki Havenaar had to stay in the dressing room due to an injury, and his absence was particularly noticeable in the 67th minute. After a long ball behind the defense, FAC striker Nermin Haljeta ran alone towards the Ried goal. Goalie Andreas Leitner came out cautiously, Haljeta scored coldly to give the visitors the lead.

Senft’s team didn’t get a proper answer: Grosse missed a free kick and a shot from substitute Fabian Rossdorfer was too central. In the finish, Ried even received another blow in the neck: the advanced defense chief Christian Bubalovic made everything clear following a Floridsdorfer counterattack – 0:2 (89th).
Which left the Rieder spring upset – and also the eight-point gap to leader GAK. The Styrians might even extend their lead to eleven points on Saturday in Amstetten.
