The mayor of Bogotá, Carlos Fernando Galán, had to be hospitalized once more for discomfort related to the surgery he underwent this week following suffering from acute appendicitis, as confirmed by the Clínica del Country in a statement.
“After presenting symptoms related to his postoperative recovery process, he entered our facilities to be treated by our specialists,” the medical center detailed.
After evaluating him, the medical staff concluded that the best thing is to “maintain his care and guarantee his optimal improvement,” despite the fact that his state of health is stable and “his evolution is favorable and his health condition does not compromise his life.”
In addition, they reiterated their commitment to the mayor’s health care and the confidentiality that they will continue to manage around details that may be susceptible to his recovery process.
The president also confirmed through his X account that he is out of danger, and continues with his recovery process. He uploaded a video in which he appears with his two children, whom he referred to as “the best company” in the midst of his postoperative process.
“Thank you all very much for your greetings and for your good wishes, a hug,” Galán concluded.
According to the mayor on his social networks, two days before his surgery he was experiencing severe abdominal pain, but he believed it was something temporary. It was only until midday on Monday, February 12, that he decided to attend to his discomfort and go to the El Country Clinic, where they immediately diagnosed his acute appendicitis.
Sources close to the mayor confirmed to EL COLOMBIANO that an “antibiotic was bad for him and they changed it,” so, for now, the emergency is not serious.
