Cuban residents in Cuba spent almost ten million dollars on vehicles imported from the United States in 2023, according to the report from the Cuba-US Economic and Trade Council. From Teslas, Mercedes Benz, to an ambulance.

Among the purchases, a $78,590 ambulance that arrived on the island in November from Miami stands out. The United States Department of Commerce only authorizes the sale of vehicles to natural or legal persons residing in Cuba, including private companies and embassies.

The list of vehicles purchased from Cuba also includes used agricultural tractors, passenger cars of different displacements, motor homes and new four-cylinder vehicles, all shipped from Miami or Tampa and unloaded at the port of Mariel.

Among the used vehicles are luxury models such as Tesla and Mercedes Benz, which are increasingly seen on Cuban streets. Gasoline and diesel passenger vehicles were also purchased from New Orleans.

In addition to the five metric ton ($89,938) and 20 metric ton ($448,491) diesel trucks, which were shipped from Miami, Tampa and New Orleans, vehicles for transporting products between five and nine metric tons were also imported. , with a value of $440,400.

Vehicle imports also included parts and spare parts. For example, $78,000 worth of bodies for passenger cars were purchased; $6,524 in bumpers and other body elements; $51,800 in tires, and parts for tractors.

Another important item was motorcycles. Residents on the Island purchased $100,000 worth of that type of vehicle, including mopeds, all 50cc, and $34,000 worth of 800cc equipment.

Finally, trailers and semi trailers were imported, all from Miami and Tampa, for the sum of $89,560, and $27,231 in non-mechanical propulsion vehicles.

The total amount of these imports from Cuba generated income of 9,824,627 dollars for US companies, which is added to the almost 350 million dollars in food and agricultural products that Cuba purchased last year.
