Fighting to start this weekend, Ken Caillot and Adrien Fresquet set the best times in the second downhill training session in Kvitfjell (Norway), contested on Friday in still complicated conditions. Cyprien Sarrazin has not finished.
Conditions still difficult on Friday for the second downhill training in Kvitfjell. While already the day before, the upper part of the Norwegian track had been avoided due to fog, this time it was the bottom of the Olympiabakken, up to the Russi jump, which was avoided. Thus, the entire descent can be covered this Saturday (12 p.m.).
After an effort of less than 50 seconds, it was two young French people who achieved the best times. The skier from Val d’Isère Ken Caillot (called up for the first time to the French A team) with his bib 65 and the Pyrenees Adrien Fresquet (at 0”14) wearing the 60 were placed in the first two rows. The two men, at the heart of a tricolor group of eleven men (for only 8 places in the race), are playing their selection for this Saturday’s downhill. Seven other French people are classified: Nils Alphand (11th at 0”61), Sam Alphand (23rd at 0”87), Blaise Giezendanner (24th at 0”88), Florian Loriot (34th at 1”05), Mathieu Bailet (38th at 1”08), Nils Allègre (42nd at 1”12) and Adrien Théaux (44th at 1”17).
Sarrazin did not complete training
In the fight with Marco Odermatt (48th in the second training session) on Saturday for the downhill globe, Cyprien Sarrazin did not finish his descent. An abandonment which would a priori be without damage for the Haut-Alpin, but which will not have had the opportunity to completely test itself on this track where it has only competed in a super-G, but has never taken starting downhill. Maxence Muzaton did not start.
This training was marked, in addition to postponements due to the conditions, by a long interruption (around 1 hour) caused by a heavy fall by the Norwegian Adrian Sejersted (bib 3) who ended his race in the safety nets.
