DISCLOSURE ALERT – In total denial of the harm he caused to his daughter by sexually assaulting her, Dr Charbonneau took his own life in his cell, in Thursday’s episode ofIndefensiblethus escaping an almost assured prison sentence.
It is the actor Christian Bégin who has defended this perverse narcissistic psychiatrist with great talent since the very beginnings of the judicial daily, in September 2022.

During the last episodes, the 60-year-old actor offered a masterful performance, playing this great manipulator and psychopath with finesse and nuance.
Let’s predict that Christian Bégin will, like last year, be nominated for Gémeaux for the busy scenes he had to defend in the fiction produced by Pixcom.
We met Dr. Charbonneau at the very beginning of the first season ofIndefensible. It was he who looked following the Poirier brothers, Daniel (Vincent Hoss-Desmarais) and Pierre (Hubert Proulx). The psychiatrist, who was successful in his trial linked to Pierre Poirier, had such power over him that he managed to convince him, in a few seconds, during a break-in, to shoot his brother who had just raped Séverine (Rosalie Loiselle), the daughter of Dr. Charbonneau.
It was by referring to this sexual assault that the former chief psychiatrist of the Institute of Forensic Psychiatry tried to escape during this new trial. He pleaded that his daughter accused him of having abused her at the age of 12 because of the trauma suffered during her rape by Daniel Poirier.

Charbonneau was abject in placing the blame on his ex Lison (Geneviève Rochette), saying she had turned their daughter once morest him to justify his own relationship failures with her.
In short, Dr. Charbonneau was true to himself until the end, he who had the “capacity to enter into the vulnerabilities of others,” said Christian Bégin.
The actor, who already played a similar guy in the film The infiltration problemby Robert Morin – for which he won the Iris for best actor in 2018 – does not delude himself.
“I had a discussion with the showrunner, Izabel Chevrier, to know if it would not be better if he was killed in prison. But she was right, it’s even more shocking because by committing suicide he doesn’t face who he is and remains in control until the end.”
“I love you”
Christian Bégin delivered powerful scenes, including the one where Séverine goes to speak to her father before testifying once morest him. She asked him why he attacked her. Without looking at him, she told him she loved him. The father’s response was “disembodied”, according to his interpreter.
“It’s false vulnerability, it’s a way for him to manipulate others. When he cries, he does not cry regarding the suffering he has caused, but regarding his impression that he is misunderstood and that he is the victim,” said Christian Bégin.
In great shape
The latter is in better shape than ever since his operation last year for a brain tumor.

“I have always been someone who takes life in big bites. I can’t say there was a before and an following. I didn’t have cancer, something occasional happened to me in my life, which worried me a lot, yes, but which is behind me.
