The city of Kinshasa always hectic. The security situation in eastern DRC leaves no Congolese perplexed or indifferent. The latter are at the height of anger regarding Rwandan aggression in the east of their country.
On February 14, 2024, demonstrations took place in the commune of Barumbu at the intersection of the Red Cross stop. The protests loudly told :
« Enough ! No to Rwandan aggression! No to balkanization!« .
Red bands at the head, banners with whistles strongly declaring no to balkanization.
« Massacres are committed almost every day in the east of the DRC. We are killing our brothers and sisters, without heart, without pity! However, our country is full of a lot of natural wealth which helps the whole world in the climate crisis, in the manufacturing of electric batteries and many things. In return, they massacre us and want to steal our own wealth. We denounce the balkanization in the East of our country. We denounce the hypocrisy of those who assume they care regarding our situation when they are once morest us. You eat the fruit of the tree and you absolutely want to cut down even the trunk? The justice of God is there,” declared some of them.
And to continue,
“We do not want to violate the order of the Congolese government. But we are only demanding our patriotic rights. We want security in the east of our country, the DRC.”
Note that, during this demonstration, there was no violence, no cars burned.
