Nairo Quintana announced through his Instagram account that he tested positive for coronavirus, which is why he will miss the O Gran Camiño, a Spanish stage race that will be held between February 22 and 24, and which would mean the return of the Boyaca cyclist to European competitions.

Quintana assured that he finished the Colombia Tour with several symptoms, which is why he decided to take a COVID test, testing positive and having to delay his trip to European territory.

“I haven’t been able to go out to train. I finished the Colombia Tour very sick. I had been feeling pretty bad for the past few days, I had caught the flu. When I returned home I relaxed, I finally took the COVID test and it came back positive. It hit me hard, I have had many symptoms,” he commented in a video published on his social network.

And he added: “now at home, having a calm time, the return to Europe is delayed a little until the coronavirus goes away and I cannot do the Gran Camiño race. Once we communicate the races we are going to do, we will start.”
