Denis Ducarme and his partner Sabrina have been experiencing true love for almost 15 years. But it hasn’t been very long since the couple appeared publicly and the beauty no longer hesitates to defend her lover on social networks. Which also earned him some threats. But what does it matter for Sabrina, what matters is to no longer let her darling suffer gratuitous criticism. “And when my wife is insulted on the networks, I no longer hesitate and I file a complaint,” warns federal deputy Denis Ducarme.

Politicians and their other half, Maxime Prévot seen by Nathalie (1/4): “The most difficult thing is still his absences”

It was also via social networks that the couple got to know each other in 2009. Sabrina was challenged by a daring media outing from the liberal who condemned the Pope’s position on the subject of condoms.

Sabrina: “I was living in England at the time and I only knew Denis Ducarme by name because we were from the same region. I said to myself: wow, finally someone who dares! I put a comment on Facebook and like he responded to each person, we started a discussion”

Denis Ducarme: “And one day, she showed up on the occasion of a Saint Roch in Thuin. I saw her and I no longer thought of the Pope at all! It was love at first sight, we quickly stop talking regarding religion.”

You recently got married…

D: “Yes, last year, in Spain. Sabrina’s black dress had an effect. She was magnificent.”

If you had to describe each other in three words…

S: “It’s complicated! Strength, reliability, heart.”

D: “A free woman, with enormous sensitivity and love like I had never known.”

And the faults of the other…

S: “It’s a bit messy! Milk soup too and sometimes messy.”

D: “She sometimes has the fault of her quality, she is so free, frank, direct, sincere, that she has no filter. That’s what I like regarding her and that’s where I finds me too but sometimes it creates friction. It’s also her sensitivity. There are things that touch her very deeply sometimes very quickly. Her artistic side is sometimes also pots of paint and brushes everywhere.”

Politicians and their other half, Samuel Cogolati seen by Valérie (2/4): “When I came across his profile, I said to myself ‘oh no, not a politician’”

Physically, what do you like most and least?

S: “His eyes.”

D: “Do you like my feet or not?”

S: “I don’t care!”

D: “That’s all for me! Nothing bothers me regarding her, I take everything.”

Who wakes up the other?

D: “I’m the one who wakes her up, huh!”

S: “My artistic side means that I tend to let myself be carried away into the night. If I start, I don’t know how to stop.”

And how does it work in the bathroom?

D: “Everyone to their own! There are red lines like that. She doesn’t share the bathroom.”

Who’s cooking ?

D: “It varies but I like making him food. Making someone food is also giving them love.”

Who does the cleaning ?

S: “It’s me!

D: “She does this with a lot of love.” (laughs)

Who wears the panties at home?

D: “We each have one leg of the pants. I think it’s balanced, there is no boss.”

S: “It depends on the day, the subject… Generally we talk. I don’t feel dominated and vice versa.”

Who chooses the vacation?

D: “She does some pretty cool circuits.”

Everything seems perfect but like any couple, are there still some areas of contention?

S: “Often over stupid things and everyone gets angry. But honestly there aren’t any big arguments.”

D: “The more time passes, the less tension there is. But be careful, she is someone who knows how to stand up to me and I need that. My wife has a strong character and I have I need someone strong next to me.”

Do you talk regarding politics at home?

D: “Practically not!”

S: “Fortunately we talk regarding something else, of course. We try to pollute ourselves as little as possible.”

Does political life influence your life as a couple?

S: “Yes, it interferes with a lot of things because he works a lot, sometimes we just pass each other. Yes, it plays a role. He’s on the phone when we eat, etc., but it doesn’t bother me at all because once more, I tend to be in my own little world too.”

D: “She also knows that as soon as I can, I cut off. When we spend a weekend at the seaside, I really try to disconnect, for example. Politics is a passion but that’s never just a job. The main thing is family. I made mistakes in the past. When I was a minister, she only saw me at night when I was sleeping.”

S: It wasn’t the nicest time.”

Over time, people follow you on social media. Do you sometimes steal the spotlight?

S: “I don’t think so. On the other hand, I’m having a lot of fun. I’m being attacked a lot. I’m more invested in what he’s doing since I’ve been on the networks because I’m being attacked.”

D: “There are real idiots on social networks. When my wife is threatened on the networks, I don’t hesitate and I file a complaint. There are people who don’t dare attack me and suddenly, they attack her. It’s really very small.”

S: “I was threatened to come and silence me, to throw acid in my face,… Some harassers have fun but now I play along, it really makes me laugh.”

Could you go into politics if he asked you?

S: “No. Start shaking hands and making big smiles like the majority of hypocrites I see, no, that’s not my thing.”

D: “I will never ask him that because I love him too much.”

Politicians and their other half, Ludivine Dedonder seen by Paul-Olivier (3/4): “Our best ideas are born during our debates in the bathroom”

A more intimate secret regarding your relationship?

D: “The cat is part of the family. There is my son Antoine and then there is the cat. He is the king of the house. Sometimes the cat is as important as me (laughs) . We love to eat. Once a week, we enjoy it.”

Would you be willing to give up politics for Sabrina?

D: “Of course! Obviously! I also know she won’t ask me.”

S: “Never! What I want is the other person’s happiness in love.”

Would you be ready to enter politics then?

S: “I’m not completely primitive but I’m much too spontaneous by nature and when I don’t like, I don’t know how to pretend.”

D: “She’s too blunt, too direct.”

Do you believe in eternal love?

S: “Until we die? I hope so.”

Would you forgive someone else’s infidelity?

D: “I don’t think so, in my opinion no.”

S: “It’s complicated.”

For what reason might you leave the other?

S: “For that reason perhaps.”

D: “If she went to Ecolo (laughs)”.

Do you tell yourself everything?

D: “We talk to each other regarding everything. This sometimes surprises friends who tell me but you tell your wife everything. Yes because she is my wife, my boyfriend, my friend, my mistress. There are several of her. So, I tell him everything. I will be the proudest man on the occasion of his first exhibition.”

The elections are approaching, are you afraid of this moment for your relationship?

D: “No, she’ll come with me.”

S: “The most difficult thing for me, in these moments, is to see the filth that sprays out at certain moments. It enrages me. It’s the difference between a normal life, is that It exacerbates the really bad parts, as well as the good parts, that’s my only problem.”

D: “Even in these moments, you must never forget, whatever your profession, that the essential is not there. That the essential is love, friendship and these shared moments which are still much more important than a speech or a TV appearance.”
