Fans may want there to be more than just friendship between them, but the reality is that Shakira and Alejandro Sanz are just that, and the Colombian bragged regarding it with a video in which they appear holding hands.
Since they met, around the year 2000, there has been great chemistry between Shakira and Alejandro. So much so that in 2005 they created the song ‘La Torture’, just when the Colombian was returning to her roots following having triumphed in the Anglo-Saxon market with the album ‘Laundry Service’; while Sanz was already established as the most important singer in Spain.
Although there have been rumors and gossip regarding a possible romance between them, even that they cheated on their ex-partners, the reality is that the singer-songwriters have always proclaimed themselves friends, confidants and companions.
Alejandro Sanz assures that Shakira “likes to play with him”
Just one day before the day of love and friendship, Shakira shared a couple of videos where she is seen in a beauty salon in Miami with the ‘Amiga mia’ singer.
As seen in the clip, the 47-year-old Colombian was getting her hair done at the same time as Alejandro.
“That’s how I like going to the hair salon,” Shakira is heard saying. “She’s going to change my look. She likes to play with my looks, I’m like her little doll,” answered Alejandro, who apparently was very comfortable in the chair where they washed his hair.
Before showing the final result of how the father of four children turned out, Shakira warned the Spanish fans that they should see any complaints or suggestions with her.

The video was soon shared everywhere, because the energy and chemistry that exists between them is very beautiful. They transmit fun, joy and happiness, especially following the bad times they have experienced in recent years.
Alejandro Sanz’s depression
Fame and success can be deceiving. On May 16, 2023, the 55-year-old Spaniard used his X account (formerly Twitter) to confess that he was not feeling well, message that scared his fans and to the world of entertainment.
“I’m not well. I don’t know if this helps, but I want to say it. I’m sad and tired. In case anyone else thinks you have to always be an ocean breeze or a firework on a summer night. I’m working to make it happen.” It happened to me…”, he wrote at that time.
At that time, in Spain it was announced that Sanz had ended his relationship with Rachel Valdés, who was strongly criticized for supposedly having abandoned Alejandro at a bad time.

Seeing and hearing this, Sanz came to her defense on her Instagram wall.
“I’m hearing and reading a lot of things that I don’t like. I want to make it clear that Rachel Valdés is an incredible woman, whom I love, admire and regarding whom I can only say good things (…) Rachel Valdés, honey, you focus on your work and turn up the volume of your art,” declared the performer.
After this bitter pill, Sanz seemed happier. In fact, it is said that he has begun a courtship with Mónica Cruz, sister of actress Penélope Cruz, a relationship that surprised at the end of 2023.
Alejandro, Shakira’s strong suit
The breakup between Shakira and Gerard Piqué became the theme of 2022 and 2023, and many friends of the Barranquilla native, such as Carlos Vives, came to her defense for expressing her pain through her songs.
Alejandro remained very much on the sidelines, however, on April 15, 2023, on the 18th anniversary of the song ‘La Torture’, Sanz wrote in I leave it there”.
After their last success together, ‘I appreciate it, but no’, from 2006, fans are now asking that they collaborate together once more and give the world a new song, but will it happen soon? More so now that it is rumored that Shakira will go on tour?
