A total of 12 medals were obtained by the karate fighters led by the sensei, Diego Cabrera Vejar, in the “South Central Federated Zonal Karate and Para-Karate Championship” held at the Machalí Sports Center, on January 20 and 21.
The activity was organized by the National Karate Sports Federation of Chile in conjunction with the Goju Ryu Regional Sports Association Sixth Region.
The “chillanejo dojo”, directed by the sensei, Diego Cabrera Vejar, was one of the groups that represented Ñuble in official and unofficial categories with 14 athletes, between 9 and 31 years of age.
In the case of those led by Sensei Cabrera, they announced their results to La Discusión, highlighting two gold medals, four silver and six bronze, which translates into 12 classified from their group to the National 2024, to be held in April in Santiago.
In the competition, Eros Araujo and Sebastián Herrera also stood out in their respective categories.
For sensei Diego Cabrera, the results contribute to the projection of his team and an achievement for Ñuble.
“I am very happy for the personal development of each competitor, happy for the result obtained that validates the daily sacrifice and effort of our dojo. This group of athletes, without belonging to any external program, has a great projection and I am proud to be responsible for their sports training. They train from Monday to Saturday on a double shift. We appreciate the support of the Regional Governor, Oscar Crisóstomo, for promoting our sport,” he expressed.
