The Prime Minister requested to take advantage of shortening the progress of the Long Thanh airport project

On the 4th day of Tet (February 13, 2024), Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and a working group inspected the Long Thanh International Airport project and asked the units to speed up the progress of determining the year. 2024 is the year of acceleration, by 2026 the project will be completed.

A report from Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV – Investor of Long Thanh airport project) said that all underground work is being accelerated, some locations are pouring concrete on the first floor and Steel structure processing work has been completed.

Specifically, the construction plan for peak dry season in the coming months has been prepared by the construction contractor consortium and approved by the investor.

The units mobilized regarding 770 additional locomotives, bringing the total number of machines on the construction site to regarding 2,000 locomotives and equipment and 2,500 officers, engineers, and workers, with the goal of opening up maximum construction sites with 44 lines. line, excavation capacity reaches 500,000m3/day.

Assessing the project progress, Minister of Transport Nguyen Van Thang said: “Items in packages 3.4, 5.10, 4.6 still ensure progress.”

Also according to Minister Thang, the 4th component project of Long Thanh International Airport is also behind schedule and needs to be drastic.

The Transport Sector Commander affirmed that investment projects in aircraft maintenance and cleaning areas, meal supply areas and related items are very necessary to be completed in sync with the project. Bidding is still subject to old bidding laws.

At the meeting with ACV and contractors, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh asked the units to determine 2024 as the year of acceleration, 2025 for breakthrough, and 2026 to complete the project.

“ACV has experience, needs to take advantage of shortening progress, ensuring compliance with the Resolution of the National Assembly, saving time, working faster, regaining time lost in the previous 3 years (from 2020)”, The Prime Minister emphasized.

The Prime Minister requested the Ministry of Construction and related agencies to regularly inspect and monitor quality assurance; architecture, fine arts and environmental sanitation.

Along with that, it is necessary to research the design of flower and ornamental gardens suitable to the natural and climatic conditions here to honor the architectural beauty of the station. Units prepare for the next phase from now on. The design of phase 2 terminal must be done immediately upon completion of runway No. 1.

The project is divided into 4 components. Component projects 1 are state management agency headquarters projects assigned to customs, local police, border gate police, port authorities, medical quarantine… to arrange capital for implementation.

Component project 2 is works serving flight management, assigned to Vietnam Flight Management Corporation as the investor; Component project 3 is essential works in the port, including passenger terminal, cargo terminal No. 1, parking garage, and connecting traffic invested by ACV; Project component 4 includes other works such as aircraft cleaning treatment area, vehicle maintenance, food supply… selected by the Ministry of Transport as the investor.
