Manager Álex Cora addresses the future of the Boston Red Sox following the tough 2023 season
Boston Red Sox manager Alex Cora told reporters Tuesday that he feels rejuvenated following a physically “horrible” 2023 season but said it’s too early to discuss his future in Boston beyond next year.
Cora is entering the final year of his contract with the team.

“I don’t want to talk regarding it right now,” he told reporters in Fort Myers, Florida, where he was asked if he hopes to coach in Boston beyond this season.
He noted that he is fine with the status of his contract as it is.
“As I’ve been saying all along, this is where we are and whatever happens in the future, it will be a family decision,” he said. “I’m glad to be here”.
The Red Sox are coming off a 78-84 season in which they finished in last place in the American League East. Cora said the season took a toll on him physically, leading him to train diligently this offseason.
Cora, 48, said what happened to him personally was a learning lesson.
“I felt terrible health-wise and energy-wise,” he said. “It was bad. I can’t let a game dictate who I am as a person or what I have to do. It feels really good.”
Regardless of how he feels or how this season turns out for Boston, Cora noted that he’s not the type of guy to take it long-term like some of his counterparts.
“I’m not going to last 10 more years, I assure you,” he said. “I don’t look like Tito [Francona] o Tony [La Russa]. I have two kids [de 6 años], I have a daughter who is in her third year of university. There is more to life. than baseball. “This is a difficult business.”
