Civil society contributes to fact-based debate on EU supply chain law

At the start of the super election year, it is clear how widespread a profit-maximizing economic understanding is, which encourages forced and child labor, environmental pollution and overexploitation. Vienna (OTS) – “Last week, Economics Minister Martin Kocher proposed a change to the EU directive on companies’ duty of care with regard to sustainability, which lacks preventative measures and would continue to accept human rights violations and environmental damage. This proposal introduces the due diligence obligations of the title ad absurdum – quite apart from the fact that the minister never made such a proposal during the drafting process,” comments Lukas Wank, managing director of AG Globale Responsibility, on the current supply chain law debate in Austria.
