Ñublense is already beginning to close its squad for the start of the 2024 Season and that is why it signed the former University of Peru forward, Emanuel Herrera, who arrives to the club on a free basis. The 36-year-old attacker is already in Chillán to sign his contract and place himself under the orders of coach Mario Salas.
The coach of the “Red Devils” manages to obtain an old and dear acquaintance, since the “Comandante” already coached the trans-Andean team at Sporting Cristal, where they achieved three titles together and where Herrera recorded an intractable scoring season, scoring 43 goals in 44 games in 2018.
The “Tanque” arrives to compete for ownership to play together up top with Patricio Rubio. For Salas it was essential to have two players per position and someone was precisely missing to occupy the center forward position in the classic 4-3-3 that the former Magallanes coach occupies.
Herrera arrives with an exquisite career. He debuted in 2008 at Chacarita Juniors in Argentina, then added minutes at Sportivo Italiano, to make the jump to Patronato and it was here where Deportes Concepción set its sights on him, his first experience in the country.
In the “Lilas” he was a top scorer in the 2011 season, scoring a total of 29 goals in 39 games, which made him make the leap to the highest category of Chilean soccer and be signed by Unión Española, where he scored 16 goals in 31 games.
After spending time in Chile, Herrera emigrated to Europe to play for Montpellier in France where he scored a goal in the Champions League. He also records passes for Emelec of Ecuador, Melgar of Peru, Argentinos Juniors and the last club Universitario of Peru, a team where he scored his first goal in Chillán facing Ñublense in a friendly duel.
The player will join the practices and will also be in Santiago with the squad, to play two friendlies, first once morest Palestino and then Audax Italiano.
Herrera comes with a good number of games played in the 2023 season, so he will not have problems finishing getting in shape for the “Rojo” premiere in the National Championship that will be on February 18 at the Nelson Oyarzún once morest Coquimbo United.
Negotiated for Huerta
Ñublense would insist on the winger Renato Huerta from the University of Chile, however the “U” will only let him leave if it is a loan for one year without a purchase option, the same way that the mixed midfielder Flavio Moya arrived, who is expected to be one of the surprises of this season.
For his part, one who was ruled out was Nicolás Zalazar. The defender will not arrive at Ñublense to replace Abascia and we will have to wait if one more is hired in that position.
Remember that the teams have until the fourth date of the tournament to be able to make additions. This is not all, since Ñublense still has two quotas of foreigners left to be able to bring reinforcements from outside.
