Did you receive your remittance? Update on sending money to Cuba 2024-02-13 17:20:39

Last Friday, the financial company Cimex SA (Fincimex) announced that remittances to Cuba are being paid gradually, following several days of delay due to unspecified technical problems.

Several clients in Cuba confirmed receipt of their money transfers through comments on the official Fincimex Facebook page. In this article, we update how currency transfers to the island are going.

For example, a Cuban woman reported that she received her first transfer on January 26, from Spain, through an agency called Línea Mundo. Another client claimed that her mother received a shipment sent from Germany on February 1 through Small World.

However, there are cases of clients who have not yet received their remittances, and who used the same shipping agencies. Small World, for example, has temporarily suspended shipments to Cuba, joining Western Union and agencies based in the United States.

A user expressed her dissatisfaction with the company, pointing out that if their objective is to provide a service to the people, they are not fulfilling it. “They may be presenting technical deficiencies or whatever, but at least the director of this company should issue a credible statement for us. Misinformation only brings chaos,” she wrote.

PROBLEMS SENDING REMITTANCES TO CUBA

Until now, there has been no public statement from Fincimex. The remittance processing agency in Cuba has limited itself to responding to some clients who have already started paying and that the situation is gradually stabilizing.

And what exactly happens with remittances to Cuba? Fincimex customer service has made references to “integration tests with banking” and “connecting shipments with bank accounts.”

It is important to remember that the Cuban government had to postpone the increase in the price of fuel, claiming that it did not have the conditions to begin collecting it due to a cyber attack “from abroad” on the CIMEX corporation.

However, it has not been explained whether this incident also affected the deposit of remittances sent to Cuba in late January and early February.

Have you already received your remittance? On what date and from what agency did they send you? Tell us in the comments.
