PROENZA SCHOULER 2024 F/W Collection
Is the era of quiet luxury over? With its unique elegant atmosphere, Proenza Schouler convinced us that the era of quiet luxury is not yet completely over. Duo designers Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernández presented a collection at the Chelsea Factory in Manhattan that completely removed the impurities and noises of the world and reached the pinnacle of minimalism.
The duo designer confessed that this collection is the one that used the most black to date. As they say, the collection started with a black pea coat and a black jersey dress and continued in black for a while. But the collection was never boring. Soft cream ivory and pure white were added, as well as pastel peach and dove gray color variations, and red and gold colors were sometimes used as points, showing a more balanced color palette than ever before.
The key item is a coat. The pea coat and double face wool coat made with boiled wool material were newly created with a bold hood detail in size XXL or snood styling. It was great in itself, providing enough justification to shop for a new coat once more despite the recession, and here, a soft bias-cut crepe jersey dress or shirt showed off the opposite charm of the coat, adding to the minimalist wardrobe. It felt like the world view was expanding steadily and gradually. Tromfeuille pants with black and white denim details also added an elegant wit. In addition to presenting a sci-fi dress, the variety of material textures was rich, such as a net dress layered with mesh material, a fringe blanket dress made of bouclé wool, a tube top and coat using fur material, and a field jacket made of nappa leather. It was also interesting. The combination of a three-button jacket that creates a long, thin silhouette, manly pants, and a neat shirt buttoned all the way up reminded me of Helmut Lang in the 90s, and the elegant shawl, low-waisted skirt, and wit that fastened it with a huge safety pin were a hit among women. It was comparable to Poby Philo’s style. Stylist Camilla Nickerson’s understated styling and Alice Coltrane soundtrack, which created a modern yet mysterious atmosphere, also helped to complete this wonderful collection.
•Fashion is changing very quickly and the world is turning upside down. Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernández, who said, ‘We worked according to our inner instincts.’ Their collection, which eliminated as much unnecessary material as possible until the day before the collection, was extremely beautiful, and created a timeless collection that cannot help but think of Proenza Schouler first when thinking of minimalism.
