“Angry Passengers Stranded in Rovaniemi-Luxembourg Flight Cancelation: Zero Assistance in Freezing Conditions”

“The flight was scheduled for 8:15 p.m. and around 11 p.m. we were told that it was canceled”: Olivier, like many passengers on the Rovaniemi-Luxembourg flight, is helpless but above all very angry. He was due to leave the capital of Lapland in the evening to reach Luxembourg and is now stuck for several hours, like the approximately 180 passengers on the flight. “Breakdowns happen to all companies, but there is zero assistance even though it’s -28°C outside,” he says, with Rovaniemi (a stone’s throw from Santa Claus Village) being at level of the polar circle.

“It’s high season here, the hotels are full, it’s difficult to find accommodation and no one answers the Luxair numbers, I find that scandalous.” And he added that “there are still families with children, sometimes young ones, we can’t leave people like that.” The fifty-year-old doesn’t lose his temper: “We had the presence of mind to buy two bottles of water before the shops closed, because we didn’t receive anything to eat or drink.”

And the night promises to be difficult for the man who was to return to work on Tuesday: “There, we are in the transit zone, some are in the airport hall and we do not know what the next few hours will bring. We were simply told that the flight was rescheduled for Tuesday at 5 p.m..”
