It is still not clear what caused the murder of Verónica Sancler, in the house she shared with her family. Her husband, a Venezuelan national, is detained, accused of having stabbed her.

The crime occurred this Thursday morning in a residential community in Pembroke Pines, in Miami, Florida. According to local media reports, an explosion was heard at the home, before SWAT officers removed a man in a sling, identified as Jorge Sancler.

Pembroke Pines Police received a 911 call shortly following 6:00 a.m. reporting that a man attacked his wife with a knife. The suspect later locked himself inside the garage of the house until SWAT was able to catch him.

Officers quickly secured the area to remove the victim and children from inside the home.

Firefighters took Verónica Sancler to a nearby hospital, where she died. The motive for her stabbing remains unclear.

Shock

Peter Robinson, the owner of the home, told Local 10 News that he rented the house to his friends, the Sanclers. “I still can’t believe it, I mean, it’s not something I’ve ever seen happen, it’s still a shock to me,” he said.

“They are all dear friends of mine and I am the daughter’s godfather, so it is very personal,” Robinson added.

According to Diario 2001, police revealed that five children were inside the house at the time of the stabbing.
