Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical promises a real coup School of Rock to become. Like the film with Jack Black on which it is based, it tells the story of the unemployed rock musician Dewey Finn, who poses as a music teacher and gets a temporary job at a prestigious private school. At first he seems completely out of place there, but then inspires his class to form a rock band and take part in the “Battle of the Bands” band competition. MOTHER COURAGE AND HER CHILDREN
In 1624, war had been raging in Europe for six years. It will continue for another 24 years. Anna Fierling, known as Mother Courage, thrives on war and goes down with it. She loses one of her children following the other.
Brecht wrote the piece during the war years 1938/1939. On the one hand it contains a blatantly pacifist appeal, but on the other hand it is a warning to European nations not yet affected by the war not to believe that they can exploit the situation for national gain. With its rough poetry and Paul Dessau’s music, Mother Courage and Her Children is one of the most important theater classics of the 20th century.

THE FINDING – MUSIC THEATER BY FRANZ HUMMEL AND SUSAN OSWELL
The State Theater is coming up with a very special program item for the Bruckner Year 2024: The opera Der Findling by Franz Hummel and Susan Oswell based on a text by Hermann Schneider will be premiered at Bruckner’s long-standing place of work in the Old Cathedral. The foundling does not primarily want to simply present the biographical stages of Bruckner’s life. Rather, this work is a multi-layered music-theatrical search for clues on the subject of Bruckner, which seeks to get to the bottom of the special tonal and ideal aura that characterizes this composer’s works.
