The army is always present
Earlier on Saturday, Pakistani Army Commander General Asim Munir called on the country’s politicians to “break with the politics of chaos.”
His statement – seen by Al Jazeera Net – quoted the Army Commander as saying, “Since the people of Pakistan have placed their trust in the Pakistani Constitution, all political parties must now do the same by demonstrating political maturity and unity.”
Assem congratulated the candidates for what he called successful behavior during the voting process, adding that the people need to get rid of the politics of chaos and polarization.
He added, “The nation needs safe hands to get out of the politics of chaos and polarization, which is not appropriate for a progressive country with a population of 250 million people.”
The Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs also expressed in a statement its surprise at foreign statements questioning the integrity of the elections that took place on Thursday.
It considered that these statements are irresponsible and do not take into account the complexity of the electoral process, and do not recognize the free and enthusiastic exercise of the right to vote by tens of millions of Pakistanis.
The Foreign Ministry confirmed that the elections were held properly and successfully, despite security threats in limited areas that were dealt with in an appropriate manner.
She pointed out that there was no nationwide internet shutdown, but only mobile phone services were suspended during election day to avoid terrorist incidents.
For its part, the Pakistani Election Oversight Commission (independent) said that approximately 60 million out of more than 128 million registered voters cast their votes in the ballot boxes on Thursday, and the official figure for the number of participants has not yet been issued.
Questioning
Shakib Mahmoud (a supporter of Nawaz Sharif) says that he is not happy with what is happening in the country with regard to the conduct of the elections, and that many people know that electoral matters are not proceeding properly but are marred by many doubts.
Mahmoud (35 years old), who works as a driver, added in his interview with Al Jazeera Net that he voted for the Muslim League Party in Islamabad because its leader is a man of finance and business, and he may have solutions to get the country out of its stifling economic crisis, as he says.

He expressed his conviction that the PTI and its leader Imran Khan are worthy of leading the country and that they enjoy great popularity, but in order to be realistic, he believes that Nawaz Sharif’s coming to power may be a solution to the country’s crises, especially since he is in agreement with the army.
Weak government
As for the legal expert who previously worked as a lecturer at a Pakistani university and preferred to remain anonymous, he said that the authority controlling the country (meaning the army) does not want the Insaf Movement to return to power and has placed all possible obstacles in front of it and worked to distort the image of the movement’s leader, Imran Khan, who is highly respected. Very popular in the country.
The legal expert added to Al Jazeera Net that this force does not want either of the two traditional parties (meaning the Islamic League and the People’s Party) to have the upper hand in Parliament so that either of them can form a government that represents the party, but rather it wants a weak coalition government so that it cannot be strong in Confronting the army.
He confirmed that he had confirmed information indicating that tampering had occurred in many of the results, and that he had personally seen the counting of the results of one of the electoral districts in Islamabad, and all indications indicated that tampering had occurred in the result.
He added that most Pakistani politicians and citizens are convinced that the electoral process was marred by many suspicions.
