The youth minutes of Diósgyőr worked, but DVSC did not give up

VTK Diósgyőr played a 2-2 draw with VSC Debrecen in the 18th round of the OTP Bank League. Ágoston Bényei and Gábor Jurek scored the goals of the Miskolc team – which is interesting in the light of the fact that Sergej Kuznetsov was fired from the club this week because he would not let the team’s youngsters play.

The home team started the match better, controlled the game and attacked aggressively following losing the ball. For most of the half, Balázs Dzudszák had a serious advantage, but they might not convert their opportunities into goals. The visitors, who had undergone a coaching change three days ago, found themselves in the last ten minutes, which was enough for them to create one or two more serious situations, but they might not find the back of the net either.

After the turn, attacks from Debrecen might be expected, but less than five minutes had passed when DVTK took the lead following Bényei shot into the goal from 16 meters following Megyeri’s bad forward. The match came alive, and the Debrecens might have equalized immediately, but Bárány missed Szécsi’s cross, then a few minutes later the home goalkeeper kicked the ball to the opponent once more, from which his team scored another goal thanks to Jurek’s six-meter header.

The hosts responded well to the difficult situation, staying on the attack and Dzuzdzak curled a beautiful 22-metre free-kick into the top right corner midway through the half.

The former national team player cobwebbed the upper right corner from regarding 23-24 meters.

In the continuation, DVSC’s game became more urgent, the visitors easily maintained their advantage and even led several dangerous counterattacks, even following being manned down following Szatmári’s questionable red card. The referee assessed a move by the defender as a back kick. In the first half, the tiring Díosgyőr defenders missed more and more home passes, and following some great opportunities that remained unused, Kusnyír equalized in the 89th minute, so the teams shared the points.

With the draw, DVSC has already won four games in the league, but Diósgyőr, managed by new coach Simon Miklós, still managed to keep one point behind them in the table, where they are sixth.

After the match, the two head coaches – Szrdjan Blagojevics and Simon Miklós – as well as Balázs Dzudzsák and Ágoston Bényei evaluated M4 Sport.
