Written by Mounis Hawass Saturday, February 10, 2024 03:00 AM The company issued Apple Final versions of Music, TV, and Devices apps on Windows These apps are now available for download on x86 devices running Windows 10 and 11.
Apple had previously released Music, TV & Devices on Windows in a “preview” state, and these apps were also only available on Windows 11, not on OS 10. With the release of this latest version, the apps are no longer in their “preview” state. Available in both OS versions.
The Music, TV, and Devices apps are the ultimate alternative to iTunes, which is still around, and even though Apple phased out iTunes for Mac with macOS Catalina, it somehow continues to exist on Windows and also gets regular updates. However, the app is very old and long, not to mention that it lacks many modern features, and this is where new apps come into play.
With the Music app, for example, you get access to all the same features found on Apple’s own platforms, including access to high-resolution, lossless music, something iTunes lacks, and the TV app lets you access your iTunes purchases as well. Apple TV+ streams content in up to 4K HDR, and the Devices app manages things like syncing, backing up, and updating your iPhone, iPad, and iPod.
It’s not clear how long Apple will continue to keep iTunes for Windows, perhaps with versions of Windows older than 10 years, but at this point it probably won’t be long in this world.
