IN IMAGES, IN PICTURES – A thousand tractors and agricultural machinery paraded through the streets of the Belgian capital this Thursday morning, on the sidelines of the EU summit.

Despite the concessions from Brussels, where European leaders are meeting this Thursday, February 1, the anger of farmers in the EU has not subsided. Although this is not on the official agenda of the discussions at the Brussels summit, tractors and agricultural machinery converged this morning near the meeting venue, in front of the European Parliament, according to the organizers.

A thousand tractors took over several streets of Brussels on the outskirts of a summit of leaders of the Twenty-Seven, once morest a backdrop of anger from the agricultural world towards European policy. “There are a thousand tractors or agricultural machines“, a police spokesperson told AFP, specifying that these farmers mainly came from Belgium.

The Head of State Emmanuel Macron was expected today in the Belgian capital and was to meet with the President of the Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, particularly on the subject of the Mercosur treaty which worries the agricultural sector and including Paris declares that he does not want to. This treaty with important agricultural countries “is not good for our breeders and cannot, must not be signed as is”declared French Economy Minister Bruno Le Maire on Wednesday, saying he was ready for a “bras de fer” with the Commission.
