“My son needs me”: The fastest woman in the world is about to end her career

The 37-year-old three-time Olympic champion told the magazine “Essence” that neither her age nor fatigue from training were the decisive factors for this.

“My son needs me,” she explained her move. It is also time to give something back to her husband Jason Pryce.

He sacrificed himself for her and thanks to his support she is able to do all the things she has done in the past years. “And I think I owe it to them now to do something different,” Fraser-Pryce said.

The ten-time athletics world champion surprisingly won Olympic gold in the 100 m in Beijing in 2008 and thus launched her successful international career.

“My husband and I were together before my victory in 2008,” said the sprinter. Their son Zyon was born in 2017.

She is currently preparing specifically for the games in Paris. “There’s never a day when I go to training and feel like it’s too much for me,” said the sprinter, who is also known for her extravagant hairstyles.

The training is regarding pushing boundaries and showing people that you will stop if you decide for yourself. “I want to quit on my own terms,” emphasized the 1.52 meter tall athlete.
