On Wednesday evening, a news scout observed a taxi driving onto the ski slope on a nearby ski slope in Laax GR. However, the vehicle doesn’t get far, it gets stuck in the snow and has to be towed away.

“The six passengers threatened him, they forced him to continue driving even though he told them it was too dangerous,” said the owner of Easy-Taxi, Haci Demirtas, when asked regarding 20 minutes. The person affected was a very young and rather inexperienced employee. “He said he didn’t want to go any further. The passengers then became angry and threatened not to pay him or to throw him into the snow,” the entrepreneur continues.

They were hotel guests on their way to the restaurant

“The path to the ‘Tegia Larnags’ restaurant is narrow and not passable when there is snow. Normally, passengers have to walk the last bit to the restaurant,” says the taxi operator. In this case, however, the tourists refused and the driver didn’t know any better.

The identity of the passengers is unclear as the hotel where they were staying made the taxi reservation for them. “There were six people, rather older and they mainly spoke English. At least one of them also spoke German,” says Demirtas.

The taxi continued driving for the rest of the evening

A piste machine from the piste operator in Laax helped with the rescue. The taxi was still drivable followingwards, and possible gearbox damage is currently being clarified.

Despite the initial shock, the young driver ends his shift because he already had further reservations for the evening. “The incident put a lot of strain on him and I had to calm him down. He was able to take the day off on Thursday. “He was back at work on Friday,” says his boss.

The police were not informed

The taxi company decided not to alert the police in the case. “Up here, the emergency services often need one to two hours before they can get to the scene,” says Demirtas. However, they still want to find out the identity of the tourists and have already contacted the hotel.
