It is on the strength of his friendly relations with the President of the Republic of Benin, Mr. Patrice Talon, that the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Transcorp Group made this visit to consolidate these links. In front of the press, Mr. Elumelu did not hide his privileged relationship with the Claudine Talon Foundation by congratulating it for its notable efforts for the benefit of disadvantaged groups.
The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the UBA Group also welcomed the qualitative leaps undertaken by the Benin subsidiary. “We increased our revenue by 28% last year and we plan to do more this year. The President of the Republic welcomed the bank’s support for the government’s action program but encouraged us to do even more,” indicated Mr. Elumelu. While congratulating customers for the trust and support in the bank, the members of the board of directors and the general management of UBA Benin for the performances achieved, the host of UBA Benin announced good prospects for the bank. “We want to make UBA the bank for all Beninese people. In his address to the media, the man returned to the achievements of the Tony Elumelu Foundation in Benin. Benin has indeed distinguished itself as the first country in Africa to have provided many beneficiaries of the TEF program with nearly a thousand young people having already benefited from the advantages of the said program. On this subject, he did not fail to pay vibrant tribute to the government agency Sèmè-City, the real linchpin of this remarkable performance. “We are amazed by the magnificent work being done there for young people. This is, among other things, why I came to express my gratitude to the President of the Republic for his leadership in favor of the young people of Benin. There are enormous opportunities for young people in this country,” said Mr. Elumelu.
From Cotonou, the president of the Tony Elumelu Foundation sent a message to African entrepreneurs. “Be hardworking, disciplined and save for a better tomorrow. With us at TEF, your success is our success… Africa’s success lies in your hands as young entrepreneurs,” he urged.
