Stoltenberg held a meeting with US congressmen regarding aid to Ukraine

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg met with House Speaker Mike Johnson and other United States congressmen on Tuesday to discuss support for Ukraine.

As “European Truth” writes, the press service of NATO reports this.

According to the press release, during the meeting the Secretary General thanked the US for its support to Ukraine and emphasized that this assistance remains crucial for its survival and the stability of Europe.

Stoltenberg emphasized that a strong Alliance is in the strategic interests of the United States, and that thanks to NATO, the United States has more friends and allies than any other country, the report said.

“He also pointed to the importance of maintaining NATO’s strength through increased defense investments, welcoming their growth in all Alliance countries in recent years,” the Alliance notes.

It is reported that Stoltenberg met with House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries and participated in a discussion on Ukraine with a number of Republican Party representatives.

In conclusion, he met with the co-chairs of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly and the leadership of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the House of Representatives of the US Congress.

On Wednesday, the Secretary General of the Alliance will visit a division of the Lockheed Martin company that produces electronic and missile systems in Alabama.

Former US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken statedthat the situation with the termination of the supply of American aid to Ukraine has already affected the battlefield in a certain way.

At the same time, Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba repeated his confidence in the fact that the US Congress will approve additional funding for Ukraine despite the bipartisan disagreement on migration.

Before that, the USA stated the need to make a decision on aid to Ukraine as soon as possible, because the next few months will be critical.

According to the media, the key aides of US President Joe Biden are at a closed meeting in Congress warnedthat without the approval of additional military aid to Ukraine at the front, significant difficulties are possible for the Ukrainian troops.
