Vienna (OTS/RK) – “Vienna has already introduced a certificate of expertise at the state level for both dogs and exotic animals and has had very good experiences with it. A nationwide regulation was long overdue, which is why I expressly welcome today’s announcement,” said Vienna’s animal welfare councilor Jürgen Czernohorszky today, reacting to the federal government’s new animal welfare package.
By training pet owners early on regarding the needs of different animal species, from dogs to parrots, future animal suffering can be reduced.
Vienna active once morest torture breeding
Cruel breeding of dogs and cats is also an important issue in a big city like Vienna, says Czernohorszky. “Our official veterinarians in Vienna are confronted with the resulting animal suffering every day.” Vienna has set many initiatives and done educational work here. “And we have repeatedly called on the federal government to actively work on uniform enforcement across the country.”
“It’s good that law enforcement now has effective instruments with which torture breeding can be prevented even more effectively throughout Austria,” concluded Jürgen Czernohorszky. (Ending)
