O WhatsApp has started testing a new feature that allows you to add favorite contacts in the software’s connections tab, for easier access. According to WABetaInfothe new feature appeared in the app’s most recent beta and, therefore, is still under development.
Basically, only the feature settings screen has been added to the app. There, there is a search field to facilitate adding the contact and a brief description, informing that the favorites will appear in the calls tab so that they are “one tap” away.
It is an interesting accessibility feature, which might be useful especially for those who often make calls to the same contact(s). Currently, there is even a list of frequent contacts in the calls tab, but to view it you need to tap the button to compose a new call.
Although there is no official forecast as to when the feature will be available, it should be released in a future update of the app — if Meta chooses to implement it, obviously.
